The project is cross-disciplinary and the full title is ”International trade regulating organisation and South-East Asian regionalisation of trade agreements. Implications for the Norwegian Seafood industry. The cases of Vietnam, China and India.” It is a joint project between Norut/ Tromsø, the University of Stavanger and NUPI. It is a user-related project where EFF (the Norwegian Seafood Council) and FHL (Norwegian Seafood Federation) also participate. The overall project manager is Frank Asche, University of Stavanger, but the project is coordinated from Norut/Tromsø which also carries out the largest share of the research activity. NUPI will have an advisory role in the project; contribute to developing the project’s cooperation activities in China and India, and carry out studies of market dynamics based on micro-data for Norwegian exports.

.Routledge.p. 227-252.Regional disparities are particularly high in some larger emerging economies, such as Russia and China, and inter-provincial inequality in China has increased rapidly after 1990. In the literature, a statistical link between globalisation and increased regional disparities in China has been established, but not the precise mechanisms and causal relationships. In this paper, we therefore simulate a world trade model with 166 countries and regions in order to shed light on these mechanisms and the future development of regional disparities in China.
