Current research

Senior Research Fellow Nina Græger is head of Department of International Politics. Græger's research includes European security and transatlantic relations, including NATO and CDSP. Norwegian foreign, security and defence policy, with particular emphasis on the military, and international operations.

Græger is leading Work Package 5 in GR:EEN  (Global Reordering – Evolution through European Networks), a project funded by the EU's FP/ for the period 2011 - 2013. Græger's contribution is on "Energy security and governance in the context of wider security issues".

Græger is also leading NUPI's research under the EUPERFORM (The EU’s Performance in Multilateral Organisations). Græger's research is a Post-doc project which looks at the role and impact of the EU in NATO from a practical perspective and on the EU-NATO relation in a wider security policy context.

Græger is currently working on the projects 'Understanding Inter-Organisationalism through Practices: The EU-NATO relationship' (2012-) and 'Beyond “soft” power? Norway’s troops-for-status policy' (2011-).

She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the University of Oslo in 2007. The title of Græger’s Ph.D. thesis is: Norsk forsvarsdiskurs 1990-2005: Internasjonaliseringen av forsvaret . (Norwegian Defence Discourse 1990-2005: The Internationalisation of the Norwegian Armed Forces).
