Project title: Towards a Postmodern European Security and Defence policy? Implications for Norway as a non-member

Much of the existing literature on EU security and defence policy focus on the goals and ambitions of the EU rather than on its actual functioning. With several EU operations now being implemented, it is important to move one step further and study the actual functioning and the implications of this policy. Such studies will provide increased understanding of the EU as a security actor that will be useful both for member states and non-members that are closely linked to the EU. The aim of this project is precisely to put more emphasis on the implementation phase of EU security and defence policy, and to investigate the implications of this policy for Norwegian security and defence policy.
