Current research

Director of NUPI 1997–2007. Engaged in the projects Non-profileration and Doables in the Field of Nuclear Disarmament. Launching the book Nuclear Proliferation and International Security written in cooperation with NUPI researcher Morten Bremer Mærli, spring 2007. Senior Research Fellow at NUPI from medio June 2007.

Three of them are outlined and discussed with special emphasis on stability requirements. Reservations are made for the path dependency of nuclear disarmament: beyond some initial steps, the international political order may change in ways that defy prediction. However, much is known about the requirements of military stability. The article discusses how these requirements can be met on the way to abolition.
