Engaging Ukraine: Democracy support and civic competence
This project, a continuation of Governance, Gender and the Environment (2004–2007) aims to develop long-term collaboration with research establishments in Ukraine.Partner institution in Ukraine: The National University of Kiev Mohyla Academy Participants Guri Tyldum, FAFO
Fredrik Wilhelmsson, NUPI/School of Economics and Management, Lund University, until 1 February 2009.
This project is a continuation of “Governance, Gender and the Environment”, supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs 2004–07. NUPI’s partner institution in Ukraine is the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) (http://www.dfc.ukma.kiev.ua/).
The cooperation is based on a framework agreement with NaUKMA, with three components:
Masters-level teaching in relevant problem issues connected to democratisation, gender-based migration, environmental economics and international economics
workshops and conference with researchers from NaUKMA and international research circles involved in the above area
development of research collaboration with Ukrainian academic circles.
In addition, the plan is to develop dialogue projects with Ukrainian colleagues on Euro-Atlantic questions, and to prepare a new form of collaboration in trade issues. In the previous project period, the EERC (Economics Education and Research Consortium) was part of Mohyla Academy; as this has now changed, we endeavour to establish a new form of cooperation that can involve both Mohyla Academy and the EERC.
