Jan Egeland to address ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review
NUPI Director Jan Egeland will give an address at the ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review
in New York on Wednesday, 30 June. Egeland's presentation will focus on the role of women in a post-disaster context.
Jan Egeland is participating in the 2010 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) held in connection with a four-day UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) High-Level Segment expert meeting at UN Headquarters in New York, 28 June to 1 July 2010. These expert meetings will focus on a broad range of issues relevant to the implementation of the UN development agenda and will bring together ministers and government officials from 13 countries, leaders of various UN organisations and programmes as well as experts and representatives from NGOs and the academic world. The 2010 AMR will focus on "Implementing the internationally agreed goals and commitments in regard to gender equality and the empowerment of women".
