New MBA Course on Russia and the High North
This new Executive MBA programme combines a traditional business education with unmatched insight into Russian culture and the particularities of the High North. The programme is a part of The High North Centre for Business and Governance and starts in March 2010.
Frode Mellemvik, professor and director of the High North Centre for Business and Governance at Bodø Graduate School of Business, says the school is very pleased with the formalised cooperation with NUPI.
– No doubt, NUPI is nationally preeminent where research on international politics and Russia is concerned, and we consider ourselves as leading in the fields of business, industry and educational cooperation with Russia, Mellemvik declares.
NUPI director Jan Egeland states that ”Bodø is now one of the most exciting milieus in the Nordic countries when it comes to teaching on and cooperation with Russia and Russian universities".
– For 50 years, NUPI has carried out research on the High North and neighbouring areas of Norway, with particular emphasis on Russia. Norwegian-Russian cooperation has entered into one of its most exciting phases so far, and we are both glad and proud to be able to cooperate with the Bodø Graduate School of Business, says Egeland.
The cooperation implies i.a. that several NUPI researchers will be attached to the Bodø school as researchers (II), both to lecture and to perform research at the High North Centre.
The High North Centre for Business and Governance (NOS) was officially opened on 15 March 2007. The centre is part of Bodø Graduate School of Business and was established to coordinate and further develop the competence and experience based on 20 years of cooperation with Russian universities, authorities and enterprises.
The main task of the High North Centre is to assist companies, organisations and public institutions that wish to participate in the increased activities in the High North within different fields, such as energy, trade, fishery, tourism, travelling or other industries.
MGIMO – Moscow State Institute of International Affairs – University of the Russian MFA – is the leading Russian educational centre in the field of international relations, one of the world’s leading universities and a global academic flagship. MGIMO was founded 14 October 1944.
