Multinational Experiment 6 (MNE 6) is a two-year concept development and experimentation project jointly undertaken by the defence and security research communities of 18 countries. It is aimed at developing insights, competences, tools and mechanisms to improve the ability of the participants to contribute to international peace and stability operations. The project address a range of topics related to issues like cultural awareness, the relationship with local populations, adversaries and spoilers, host governments, etc
MNE 6 provides opportunities for participating nations and organizations to explore new concepts and capabilities for multinational and interagency operations. MNE represents a forum, a meeting point, a network or a community for various actors engaged with similar challenges. Apart thus from the formal products, the networking process itself is also a valuable output of the MNE-series.
In 2009, the MNE 6 project was mainly dedicated to exploring concepts, to do research and analysis and to bring experience to the table. In 2010 the focus will shift more towards developing concepts, handbooks and training material, and ultimately to test some of these products through experimentation.
