The impetus behind the report is the fact that efficient participation in peace operations largely depends upon successful cooperation and coordination between key actors in the society, such as the government authorities, academic and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the media. There is currently no comprehensive overview of who is doing what, where, and when in Norway as pertains to peace operation (and SSR) research, policy development, and training. This is true for institutions concentrating on military, police, as well as civilian peace operation and SSR aspects. The aim of the report is to contribute to increased cooperation and exchange of information between institutions both on an administrative level and in the field.
